There’s losing and then there’s losing

April 4, 2008

What can you say about last night’s loss to the Red Wings except that it is symbolic of the whole season?  To quote the late Casey Stengel, “Can’t anybody here play this game?”

At least Aaron Portzline got to slam Detroit.  Hey Aaron, I can show you some areas of Columbus that you can photograph.

  1. hey, this might be a stupid question, but have you read future greats and heartbreaks? i just finished it earlier this week, and thought it was a good quick read and an interesting look at drafting and prospects, but i wonder what blue jackets fans might think, since it’s really about your team. there were some things in it that address some of what you’ve touched on in your past couple of posts (what qualities teams should prioritize in looking for players, trying to build through the draft). but mostly i’d just like to know what you thought.

  2. Haven’t read it yet, but it is on my reading list. I corresponded with Gare when the book first came out. He said he was going to send me a copy, but … 🙂

The Jackets have cleaned up their scouting department since they removed MacLean, but they have a way to go. Hitchcock recently remarked that they have “stopped the bleeding in Syracuse” and judging by the Crunch record, he is right. The team needs to draft another keeper at #1 this year and plug some holes and/or develop some of their players to solve their needs.

By the way, nice blog you have. I will definitely be stopping by on a regular basis. Thanks for stopping by.
