December ForecastDecember 3, 2007
I’ve got to get this posted before December gets going. This is my game-by-game forecast for the month of December. I did have a win for the Saturday game in Calgary because the Flames are one team that is going the opposite direction of the Blue Jackets. Mike Keenan is doing his best to dismantle the team and he’s not messing around; he is working very hard to alienate one of the best goalies in the game, Mikka Kiprusoff.
12/1 @ Calgary W
12/3 Dallas 1 point. The Stars are hot right now and maybe the Jackets can get a break tonight and slow them down.
12/5 Avalanche W Not a good road team and they embarrassed the Jackets early in the season. Ken Hitchcock will have the Jackets ready this time.
12/8 Wild W Revenge on the mind of the Jackets? The fans better show up for this one because Shelley and Boll will be busy.
12/10 Anaheim 1 point The Ducks have to get going one of these days and they haven’t matched up against the Jackets this season. It will be a tough game.
12/12 Avalanche 1 point This time, the ‘lanche will be ready.
12/15 @ Boston Loss A tough team to face on the road. The B’s are much improved this season, like the Jackets.
12/18 Calgary W If Keenan is still around, it’s a W. Either way, the Flames will be in a bad mood, but they will be on the road.
12/21 Kings W The Kings are struggling.
12/23 Nashville 1 point The Predators are tough and they have the Jackets number. Still, we can’t lose all the time, right?
12/26 Atlanta W Another struggling team we get to face at Nationwide.
12/27 @ Nashville 1 point. See previous comments.
12/29 Carolina 1 point The Canes are up and down this season, but are over .500 on the road and they will catch us after two tough games against Nashville.
12/31 Edmonton W The Oil don’t play well on the road and we owe them something.
14 games, 28 possible points. Need 18.2 to stay in the hunt for 95 points. I see 20 points. Yes, I only have one regulation loss on my forecast, but the Jackets could split with Nashville and Colorado and still gain 21 points with the additional losses. This is about as optimistic as I get, but with no Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, or San Jose for the month, it could be good. My caveats are: No injuries (Vyborny? Modin? Peca?), Leclaire holds steady and Norrena gets better opportunities and shines.
